The Tirana Examiner is an independent publication examining power, policy, and public life in Albania.
Founded in 2026, the Tirana Examiner follows institutional developments closely while situating them within broader transatlantic and regional contexts.
The publication is formally registered as a periodical in the international ISSN system of the U.S. Library of Congress, placing The Tirana Examiner within the global registry of recognized serial publications and ensuring its work is identifiable, citable, and archivable over time.
Albania stands at an inflection point: NATO membership, European Union accession negotiations, regional diplomacy, strategic infrastructure development, energy security, and expanding engagement with Western partners. Yet public debate often centers on personalities rather than institutional consequence.
The Tirana Examiner focuses on structure. It examines how executive authority is exercised, how parliament functions, how judicial reforms reshape governance, and how economic and security decisions position Albania within the Euro-Atlantic framework.
The publication serves policymakers, diplomats, legal professionals, investors, researchers, and readers who require disciplined analysis rather than political spectacle. Its work prioritizes clarity, institutional literacy, and strategic coherence.
The Tirana Examiner does not function as a partisan platform. It evaluates governance and policy on the basis of legal foundation, institutional integrity, and long-term national consequence.
Albania’s credibility will depend on institutional maturity.

How We Are Organised
The Tirana Examiner does not distribute honoraria or reimbursements, and operates entirely on a voluntary basis. All contributions are made without financial compensation, ensuring that editorial decisions remain free from financial influence or external pressure.
Editorial Board. The unsigned voice of the publication. Editorials state where The Tirana Examiner stands on a question and why. They are written collectively and carry no byline.
Legal Desk. Constitutional and criminal law, the courts, the justice-reform institutions, and the legal texts that sit behind political claims.
Security Desk. Armed forces, intelligence, hybrid operations and the security architecture of the region, examined without adjectives.
EU Integration, Politics and Governance. The accession process as it is actually conducted: clusters, benchmarks, conditionality, and the distance between what Brussels says and what Brussels decides.
Commentary. Signed analysis of diplomatic language, security signalling and institutional conduct.
Regional Affairs. Albania’s neighbourhood as a diplomatic system: Serbia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Croatia, and the institutional politics of a region whose decisions are taken in each other’s capitals as often as in its own.
Economic Desk. Public finance, monetary policy, investment and the economics behind Albania’s political choices.
Church and State Desk. Faith, the state and public ethics in Albania and the region, and the line between churches and the governments that would speak through them.
US Bureau. Based at the publication’s main bureau in Clinton Township, Michigan. Washington’s view of Albania and the region: Congress, the State Department, the transatlantic institutions, and the American debate in which the Western Balkans are decided more often than they are discussed.
Beyond the desks, The Tirana Examiner publishes contributors in law, political science, history and transatlantic affairs. Every piece other than an editorial carries its author’s name. The publication does not run anonymous opinion.
